About us

Who we are

Welcome to itsyourmoney.ie
Financial products can be complex. But our information is free, impartial and in plain English.  Our independent information helps you understand financial products, so you can ask the right questions and make the right choices about your personal finances.  This site is designed to help you take control of your finances. We hope it meets your needs, whether you're researching what’s on offer, learning more about a new financial product or service or comparing the market for insurance and banking products.

All of our web-pages are print-friendly so you can print off relevant pages when required. You may also wish to subscribe to our monthly e-newsletter and/or RSS feeds on itsyourmoney.ie, for regular updates and news.

We do not sell anything. We do not take the place of a financial advisor and we cannot recommend a particular product or service or give you personal advice. We can give you information on making a complaint but if you have a complaint about a financial services provider, you may need to contact the Financial Services Ombudsman.

itsyourmoney.ie is under the remit of the National Consumer Agency (from 1 March 2010). This follows a Government decision to transfer the statutory consumer information and education functions of the Financial Regulator, including itsyourmoney.ie, to the National Consumer Agency (NCA). You can learn more about the NCA and what we do.

Want to find out if a firm is regulated?
If you have a query about a credit intermediary such as motor dealer, computer, furniture or electrical store offering credit and finance deals, insurance sold by a retailer to extend the guarantee of a product beyond the date provided by the manufacturer or a pawnbroker, contact us on 1890 432 432 or check out consumerconnect.ie

You can go to the Financial Regulator’s registers website to find out if a firm is regulated or to get a list of regulated advisors. The Financial Regulator’s website also lists warning notices on firms that have been operating in Ireland without authorisation. Remember, that you do not have the same protection if you deal with a firm that is not authorised.
